The Retreatment Process
Our team will carefully examine the tooth with digital imaging systems to assess the position and extent of your infection. We will then numb the area and may recommend sedation to ensure you are calm and comfortable as we remove the crown capping your tooth and access the eruption, removing the filling and thoroughly cleaning the interior of the tooth to ensure any and all tissues have been removed. We then add new filling to the inside of the tooth and again, cap it with a crown. If the issue occurs at the tip of the roots, we may recommend a surgical procedure to address the issue at the source.

Following the procedure, we can discuss ways to help protect your untreated teeth from exposure to decay and infection. You should take time to brush and floss daily, reduce the amount of sugar and starch-filled foods and drinks in your diet, and avoid tobacco products. Be sure you see your general dentist for checkups and cleanings every six months as well. This can help keep the risk of infection low.
